Total Pitching (all pitchers) for LAD scored high as Tight (upward lifting fastball and normal off-setting pitches) with the following team pitching T-L-R scores:

The Dodgers just left Colorado and headed to San Francisco. LAD sported a minus 26.64 VMI which tells you that they probably will have difficulty re-adjusting to that wicked tail-off on the four-seamer in San Francisco's colder air. And, they did. They had only 14 opportunities to get a hit off a fastball and got 1 hit for a 7.1% hit/strike rate. We will never know if they could have adjusted quickly enough back to what they normally see after having been in Colorado for a few games, because Webb is a Reverse pitcher and obviously doesn't follow VMI, and he doesn't throw hard enough to have a really effective fastball. But, the Dodgers did not achieve an average rate of 9% on this day with the only hit they got off that pitch.
However, they got 6 hits off Reverse pitching and four more hits off the Loose pitch in the Change-Up. All these things are predictable and that is what VMI is there for. The quick check you can do in the detailed match-ups should tell you that San Francisco, planning on using a Reverse Pitcher against a team coming from Colorado was not a good choice and that the low rating on either a Reverse (sinker) Hitter or Tight (fastball) Hitter would be the guys on the team that would get it done.
San Francisco hitters, going up against their chief rival sported a -0.00 VMI. This tells you that there will be nothing different on the movement of the pitches to either cause them extra difficulty or to give them any advantage. Baseball as normal. But, focus is tough, and the uniqueness of the pitcher, his release, and other little idiosyncrasies, etc. can either make it a tough day at the plate or a big day at the plate. For me, it is tough to tell what will happen on a 0.00 VMI day.
For Colorado hitters, we all could anticipate exactly what the Rockies would achieve in their first game away from Coors Field. They watched 23 four-seamers go through the strike zone and accomplished nothing with them. This is a broken record playing on a broken turn table.
The only hits they got were on downward breaking fast and slow pitches. This is what the VMI tells you is going to happen. And, the individual players all created this scenario. So, the team VMI is telling as to what each individual will most likely do.
The players who didn't play many innings on the last home stand in Colorado would most likely do better than the starters.
San Diego, on the other hand, sported a minus 1.23 VMI which tells you they may have difficulty focusing on all the right things while trying to put together 9 hits for an average game in MLB. They won, only because Colorado almost never puts together an average hit performance on their road trips until about the 5th or 6th game of the trip.
